Today was not the most exciting to say the least. I was at the conference for the majority of the day. My talk was at 4:45pm and didn't go as well as I would have liked. I was very familiar with the material and decided that because of that I didn't need to practice. RIIIIIGGGHTTTTTTT...like that works for graduate students. Anyways, it was miserable, but it's over and there isn't too much I can do about it now!
I was nervous about getting my presentation loaded and set up so I had to eat quickly during lunch and load the presentation (I was supposed to load it yesterday, but went to the conference without my USB so had to do it at lunch). Poland is similar to the rest of Europe in that you have multiple courses and take your time. Thus, I had to find some FAST AMERICAN FOOD : ( ... McDonald's was close so I stopped and got a hamburger...um...definitely not worth the time it saved. Regardless, I got my lunch finished in time to successfully load the presentation before the others came back.
After the conference closed for the day, I walked through the main square (video below) and found somewhere to eat. I ate at Dwór Polski. I had goulash (AMAZING) and an assortment of pork? (Pictures below) It was bacon/ham, a pork chop and a third thing that was cooked with peppercorn but I couldn't tell what it was. I was so full from the goulash I could barely eat the entree. It did come with Sauerkraut salad which was basically cole slaw without the mayonnaise component. It was good (better than the meat assortment, but not as good as the goulash).
After dinner, I walked around the main square and took some more pictures. I'm back and the hotel and I'm exhausted. I finished my presentation and ate and now I'm ready for bed since the stressful part of my trip is OVER!!!! I will explore Wroclaw (it's pronounced like: vrostrove?!) more and post a lot more pictures/videos/history/stories with in the next couple of days. It doesn't look to promising for the tour of Auschwitz because you need 2 people to attend and so far I'm the only one! I don't know how upset I am about this. Anyways, Wroclaw seems happy and lively and I'm sure I'll be able to fill my days before I leave to meet JEREMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope you all are enjoying my blogging. I'm not the best blogger/photographer/videographer, but do what I can. I think my goal for my 26th year (my goal for 25 was to run a 5K...CHECK) is going to be to learn how to do photography. Perhaps a class?? Hopefully Jeremy will be better and we'll get some better shots of the rest of the trip when he comes.
Dana you are doing such a great job with the blog. The pictures and videos have been great so far and so has your commentary/updates on the time you've been there. Keep it up honey! I love you and will see you soon in London!!!
